ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT

REPORTS TO : Finance Director

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for bank deposits, accounts payable, payroll functions, reconciling accounts receivables, and other accounting functions as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Assist in maintaining payroll files on a biweekly basis.
2. Independently maintain and process accounts payable with computerized system.
3. Prepare bank deposits and make deposits daily.
4. Work with vendors regarding A/P discrepancies.
5. Reconcile accounts receivable payments.
6. Assist in bookkeeping/accounting functions, as directed.
7. Maintain inventory list of fixed assets.
8. File documents and records.
9. Assist Finance Director as needed
10. Perform other finance duties as assigned.

MINIMAL REQUIREMENTS/PERFORMANCE STANDARDS:

1. Ability to organize, plan and implement assigned activities.
2. Possess strong computer skills.
3. Ability to maintain composure in a fast-paced business environment.
4. Ability to record and maintain accurate and detailed information.
5. Ability to perform all duties accurately and in a timely manner with minimal supervision.
6. Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with co-workers, supervisors and vendors.
7. Ability to comply with confidentiality requirements.
8. Strong work ethic by reporting to work during the assigned hours of duty.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

1. Associate degree in accounting or related field. Experience may substitute for education.
2. Minimum of 2 year’s experience and/or training in payroll and accounts receivable/payable
3. Knowledge of various accounting computer systems with ability to learn additional software.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

1. Possession of valid driver’s license, an operable vehicle and proof of auto liability insurance.
2. Subject to criminal background and credit check.

HOURS OF DUTY

Monday - Friday (Full time position)

Hours 8:00 – 5:00
