Job Summary
This is a 3-Year term position.
Reporting to the Archives 400 Project Processing Archivist and in preparation for the 400th anniversary of Havard?s founding in 2036, the Archives 400 Project Processing Assistant (APPA) will assist in the processing and digitization preparation of archival collections across the Harvard Library pertaining to Harvard?s history as identified by the Archives 400 Survey Archivist and other project stakeholders. Based within the Technical Services for Archives and Special Collections unit, the APPA will work on collections at the Harvard University Archives and other Harvard Library repositories.
Position Description
Performs end-processing for collections within the Archives 400 project scope at the Harvard University Archives and other Harvard archival repositories, including tasks such as labelling containers, housing collections in appropriate enclosures, and flagging fragile items for conservation review.
With the Archives 400 Project Processing Archivist, coordinates with holdings management and collections control staff on transport and shelving of collection material.
Prepares box and folder lists to facilitate the creation of finding aids.
Basic Qualifications
High School diploma
Previous library or related experience required
Familiarity working with archival materials
Working knowledge of MS Office software applications

Working Conditions
Onsite position. This position will work onsite 9am to 5pm Monday through Friday.
The position is based on site in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Work location is responsive and subject to change based on business needs. Requests for flexibility will be considered consistent with Harvard University flexwork policies.
The work associated with this position is performed in a library/office setting.
May interact with collections that may contain dust, mold, or other contaminants.
May process materials in temporary, off-site locations.
Additional Information
Typically, a new hire can expect a starting salary somewhere in the lower part of the range. The amount will vary based on the position and the candidate?s relevant experience.
