Job Summary

The Board will support the work of Ella’s House and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by Ella’s House’s Executive Director (ED), the Board-ED relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific The Board will support the work of Ella’s House and provide mission-based leadership and strategic governance.

Job Responsibilities

Board Member responsibilities include:

• Leadership, governance and oversight
  • Serving as a trusted advisor to the ED as they develop and implement Ella’s House’s strategic plan.
  • Reviewing outcomes and metrics created by Ella’s House for evaluating its impact, and regularly measuring its performance and effectiveness using those metrics; reviewing agenda and supporting materials prior to board and committee meetings.
  • Approving Ella’s House’s annual budget, audit reports, and material business decisions; being informed of, and meeting all, legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Assisting the ED and board chair in identifying and recruiting other Board Members
  • Partnering with the ED and other board members to ensure that board resolutions are carried out
  • Serving on committees or task forces and/or taking on special assignments
  • Representing Ella’s House to stakeholders; acting as an ambassador for the organization
  • Ensuring Ella’s House’s commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities Ella’s House serves
  • Ensure legal and ethical integrity and maintain accountability
• Fundraising:
  • Ella’s House Board Members will consider Ella’s House a philanthropic priority and make annual contributions of talent or financial resources that reflect that priority. In order to credibly solicit contributions from foundations, organizations, and individuals Ella’s House needs to have 100% financial board member contribution that is commensurate with each individual’s capacity.

Qualifications

Board members must be located in Middle TN and have a passion for education, mothers, and babies.
