Role Overview


Sodexo has an exciting opportunity for an Executive Chef 2 for St. Mary of the Woods, a continuing care retirement community located in Avon, Ohio nearby Cleveland . The Executive Chef will oversee the dining operations serving approximately 150 residents (all levels of care). Operations include a small bistro, dining room service and catering. Will report to the General Manager and will manage approximately 20 cooks. Typical shift will vary with every other weekend coverage.

What You'll Do


  • oversee the daily kitchen operations including menu planning and food ordering;
  • ensure Sodexo Culinary Standards including recipe compliance and food quality;
  • be hands on and have the ability and willingness to develop and train employees; and
  • has knowledge of Food Management Systems/Software is preferred.

What You Bring


We are looking for candidates who have:

  • a strong culinary background, ideally in a senior living or healthcare setting;
  • experience with food ordering ;
  • menu planning experience and an understanding of special diets is helpful;
  • excellent communication skills with the ability to maintain the highest of standards and implement company policies;
  • a strong understanding of forecasting, food cost management, purchasing, inventory, and labor management concepts;
  • the ability to successfully lead, develop, and train a team;
  • proficient computer skills as well as exceptional organizational and customer service skills;
  • Servsafe certified as well as working knowledge of HACCP and experience with Health and Safety audits.

Qualifications & Requirements


Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience
Minimum Management Experience - 2 years
Minimum Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
