We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder with expertise in CPT and ICD-9 coding to ensure accurate coding of medical procedures and diagnoses for insurance reimbursement and compliance.
Job Description:The Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing medical records, assigning accurate CPT and ICD-9 codes, and ensuring compliance with industry regulations. This role plays a crucial part in the billing process by translating healthcare services into standardized codes for proper reimbursement.
Responsibilities:Review and analyze patient medical records to determine the correct CPT and ICD-9 codes
Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with federal regulations and insurance requirements
Collaborate with physicians, billers, and other healthcare staff to clarify documentation
Stay up to date with changes in medical coding guidelines and regulations
Assist in resolving coding discrepancies and claim denials
Maintain confidentiality and security of patient records in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Perform audits and quality checks to ensure coding accuracy
Certification in medical coding (CPC, CCS, or equivalent) preferred
2+ years of experience in medical coding with CPT and ICD-9 coding
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and billing procedures
Experience working with electronic health records (EHR) and billing software
Understanding of insurance claims and reimbursement processes
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
