Your Specific Responsibilities:

The incumbent of this position is a Health Educator who will work approximately 25 hours a week. Work hours will conincide with school hours (8:30am- 2:30pm) with some hours scheduled on eveninings and weekends for community outreach events such as parades and fairs. Incumbent is actively involved in providing education and activities in the community and in a school setting for middle and high school aged students including promoting positive youth development, facilitating youth leadership skill workshops, attending community partnership meetings, and educating youth on how to avoid risky behaviors.

Serves as Health Educator in schools and within the Community

• Helps plan, promote, and facilitate curriculum for positive youth development and promotes activities targeting middle and high school youth, their parents, guardians, and significant adults.
• Helps plan, promote and coordinate activities for youth, parents, guardians, and significant adults in the community settings in accordance with the project work plan.
• Help plan, facilitate, and participate in community events and presentations promoting positive youth development, which includes positive choices for youth.
• Participates in trainings, meetings, presentations, and conferences required to develop and improve program initiatives and promoting activities.
• Assists with Anchor program offered through the juvenile delinquency court order with an educational approach to teaching teens critical life skills, self-empowerment, and the physical and emotional consequences of risky behaviors.

Administrative

• Designs informational and educational presentations, flyers etc. for youth as needed for adult presentations including flyers created in Canva, and PowerPoint presentations.
• Helps organize and maintain inventories of educational material, incentives, and community event materials.
• Responsible for ensuring the completion of student interaction report forms, sign in sheets, pre and post surveys, and facilitator evaluations within established time frames after the completion of such activity, lesson, or event.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Skilled in Public speaking and teaching 
• IT skills including but not limited to Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Canva.
• Knowledge of the principles and practices of health promotion and public health education
• Knowledge of the principle and practices of community-based health promotion planning
• Ability to help plan, develop and deliver health promotion and public health education services.
• Ability to collect and analyze data.
• Ability to organize work assignments.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written
• Ability to understand applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to w ork well as a team.

Qualifications:

Minimum - Valid Florida Driver's License, some experience educating and public speaking

Preferred - 1-2 years of experience educating youth, 1-2 years experience with public speaking to a variety of audiences, Skilled in creation of PowerPoint presentation.
