Essential Functions:
Accepts jobs in a timely manner,
Places self in progress within 5 minutes of receiving a job assignment
Uses judgment in extending 5 minute grace period when waiting for patients
Notifies dispatcher of delays
Notifies system of job complete status
Contacts dispatcher within 3 5 minutes if no job is received
Advises nurse, nurse designee or technician when arriving to units and testing area
Introduces self to patient
The transporter always checks the patient's ID band for the two identifiers before transporting the patient's name and date of birth.
Assists the nurse or technician in transferring the patient from the bed to the transport equipment or vice versa
Use caution when rounding corners
Ensures brakes are used when transferring from a stretcher and/or a wheelchair
Maintains confidentiality of patient information
Identifies appropriate situations to seek assistance from nursing staff and/or security
Recognizes and reports patient discomfort, distress or emergency situations to the nurse or technician
Always follow infection control and handwashing precaution before, during and after a transport
