Short DescriptionAccurately validates prior-to-admission medication lists and takes medication & allergy history from patients.
Contacts outpatient entities as needed for additional patient medication information.
Communicates information to the health care team.
Documents/corrects information in patient medication list in EPIC.
Accurately and timely prepares all medications, including IV medications,
under the direct supervision of the pharmacist as per policy and regulation.
Completes expired medication inspections
Answers phones to assist in dispensing questions
Functionally uses the hospital information systems.
Experience RequiredHospital pharmacy experience preferred; retail pharmacy experience considered.
Education RequirementsHospital pharmacy experience preferred; retail pharmacy experience considered
License/Certification RequirementsCurrent NJ registration (or eligible on hire)
Must register with the NJ Board of Pharmacy during the first 10 days of employment.
Must complete the registration with the NJ Board of Pharmacy and become an active registered Pharmacy Technician within 180 days of hire.
Pharmacy Technician National Certification (PTCB) - preferred
Completion of basic pharmaceutical calculations
Special RequirementsExcellent written, verbal communication & interpersonal skills.
Able to navigate multiple information and computer systems.
Time Management & organizational skills.
Able to work efficiently under tight deadlines, high volume & multiple interruptions.
Able to maintain strict level of confidentiality, listen to other & make independent decisions.
