General Summary Of Duties:
Respond to all relevant incidents to gather and record accurate information. Conduct a field investigation, record the location and description of evidence and its preservation. Document all facts and information to identify the type of incident. Take photographs of an incident relevant to the event that clearly illustrates what occurred at the time of the incident. Include signage of nearby buildings of property landmarks to indicate the location of the incident. Complete clear, concise, and chronological reports. Complete all reports by documenting observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities, interviewing witnesses, and obtaining witness/victim/employee statements.
Role and Responsibilities: (Includes but is not limited to the following)
- Ability to respond to all incidents, including emergencies (i.e., CPR, first aid, fire, and other medical emergencies), undesirable conduct, and violations on property, policy, or civil law as warranted for the safety/security of team members, guests, and property safety/security.
- Effectively document all incidents and events into security incident reports, ensuring these reports will be complete and accurate relevant to the incident.
- Ability to gather and record facts of what occurred during an incident. Create reports for documentation of facts that can be used to examine past events, keep other officers informed, continue investigations and possible documentation for court cases.
- Effectively identify and use all forms and documents that are relevant to Preliminary Investigations at Westgate Resorts.
- Effectively utilize internal computer programs to effectively document incidents.
- Ability to provide instructions or guidance for team members and guest safety.
- Ability to observe and identify potential security/safety risks, suspicious persons/activity, or undesirable conditions or hazards.
- Ability to take clear photographs relevant to the event illustrating what occurred using company issued equipment.
- Ability to secure a scene to make the area safe and to assist in de-escalation.
- Ability to safeguard evidence, ensuring proper chain of custody and preservation is maintained.
- Ability to investigate safety/security matters on behalf of team members and guests.
- Have attention to detail and ability to conduct interviews to obtain facts regarding an incident.
- Able to distinguish facts vs. opinions.
- Ability to understand common violations of local laws and ordinances to identify the type of incident.
- Ability to display time management skills and meet all deadlines implemented.
- Ability to adapt and work extended hours to complete reports.
- Maintain excellent communication with team members and guests while assuring a positive and professional work environment; Responsible for creating, practicing, supporting, and promoting Westgate's service excellence standards culture at all times; Practice teamwork, support all team members and treat each with the same respect we treat guests to create an energized, positive and productive work environment.
- Maintain excellent communication with and assist local, state, and federal governmental agencies as directed by Management.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of classified/ sensitive information and ensuring the information is kept in secure locations at Westgate property.
- Ability to clearly communicate via two-way radios and telephones to the Dispatcher or Manager for directions/ instructions and assistance as well as fellow officers.
- Ability to remain calm and alert, especially during emergencies and heavy property activity, serving as a role model for other team members.
- Perform all basic functions and duties of a security officer.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications
Performance Requirements: ( Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Ability to successfully complete an assessment relative to the position; this will include an oral interview, writing sample and a typing test of speed and accuracy.
- Ability to successfully type a minimum of 35-40 words per minute.
- Ability to listen effectively, read, write, speak, and understand the English language clearly to ascertain and document important information, follow written and / or verbal instructions, provide clear directions, and communicate with other team members and guests.
- Use social skills as demonstrated by the ability to listen and respond to Management, team member, and guest's concerns/ inquiries using a positive, clear speaking voice, answering questions, or offering assistance while giving accurate information regarding policy or procedures within guidelines.
- Strong ability to organize/prioritize work, meet deadlines, work with minimal supervision, and adapt instructions/directions from one assignment to another.
- Must possess excellent communications skills, both verbal & written.
- Excellent writing skills with experience in Microsoft Suite and iTrak.
- Knowledge of report writing fundamentals.
- Ability to quickly grasp facts and accurately record understandable documentation and provide photographs appropriate for the intended audience.
- Maintain and utilize knowledge of safety and security practices, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to complete job-specific training, including verbal de-escalation skills, report writing, CPR, emergency first aid, automated external defibrillator (AED), basic emergency fire equipment, and maintain certifications as required.
- Ability to maintain attendance in conformance with company standards.
- Ability to maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance.
- Attend and participate in training and meetings as directed by Management.
- Maintain a valid driver's license and have the ability to drive a company vehicle safely.
Additional Information
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Preferred experience as Security/Report Writer in a hotel/casino/resort setting.
Education Requirements
- Ability to obtain/renew all government-required licenses or certifications, such as; Nevada Gaming Control Board Registration, Alcohol Awareness Card, Valid Driver's License, CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid certification.
- A High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) from an accredited institution.
- Any combination of education, training, or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
