Overview
A Reentry Recovery Specialist helps people reintegrate into society after they have been involved in the criminal justice system. These individuals often face many challenges, such as homelessness, mental health issues, addictions, and trauma. Many Recovery Specialists have personal experience with reentry or recovery. They provide support through shared understanding, respect, and empowerment. This support is essential for helping people stay on their recovery journeys and reducing the chances of going back to old habits or reoffending.
Currently looking to hire:
(1) Fulltime up to 40 hours/week
(1) Part-time up to 25 hours/week
Qualified candidates should possess:
•HS Diploma or higher level of education along with one-year support in providing peer support or lived experience.
•Schedule flexibility
.•Must work well with a team
•He/she is empathetic, ethical, and goal oriented
•Effective interpersonal communication skills; a willingness to be helpful and creative.
•Should be temperate during crisis stabilization of mentee.
•A non-judgmental approach that reflects cultural competency and sensitivity to the unique needs and diverse experience of the individuals served.
•Must have organizational skills, be accountable, accurately collect and record data, write reports and maintain accurate and up -to-date client files.
•Should be knowledgeable about community resources.
•Valid NY state driver’s license and be willing to transport.
