Energy Talent Search is actively recruiting a highly skilled and strategic Senior Mining Engineer for a leading mining operator headquartered in Denver. This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced professional eager to play a critical role in mine planning, production optimization, and operational leadership within a well-established mining company.

In this pivotal role, you’ll lead technical initiatives that maximize production efficiency, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to long-term mine development strategies. We’re looking for a proactive leader with deep technical expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to mentor junior engineers while driving operational excellence.

What You’ll Do:

As a Senior Mining Engineer, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Mine Planning & Design: Develop and oversee detailed mine plans for short-term, mid-term, and life-of-mine schedules, ensuring alignment with production goals and safety standards.

  • Operational Oversight: Provide technical support and guidance to operations teams to ensure efficient execution of mine plans and adherence to best practices.

  • Resource Optimization: Analyze production data, geologic models, and equipment performance to identify opportunities for improved recovery, reduced costs, and increased efficiency.

  • Safety & Compliance: Ensure all engineering designs and operations comply with MSHA, OSHA, and environmental regulations, as well as internal company standards.

  • Economic Evaluation: Conduct cost analyses, prepare budgets, and evaluate capital and operational projects to support business growth and profitability.

  • Technology Integration: Lead initiatives to implement new technologies and software for mine design, monitoring, and reporting.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with geologists, metallurgists, and operations managers to integrate data and align strategies.

  • Mentorship & Leadership: Provide training, mentorship, and technical guidance to junior engineers and support staff, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

Requirements

What You’ll Bring:

We’re looking for a motivated professional who meets the following criteria:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or a related field (Master’s preferred).

  • Experience: 7–12 years of progressive mining engineering experience, with a strong background in mine planning and operational support.

  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency with mine design and scheduling software (e.g., Vulcan, Surpac, Deswik, MineSched) and strong knowledge of drilling, blasting, and equipment selection.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth understanding of MSHA, OSHA, and environmental compliance requirements.

  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead projects and mentor junior engineers in a dynamic, field-based environment.

  • Analytical Skills: Strong quantitative and problem-solving abilities, capable of integrating geologic, engineering, and operational data into actionable strategies.

  • Professional Credentials: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado preferred, but not required.

  • Communication: Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills for working effectively with cross-disciplinary teams and senior leadership.

Benefits

Compensation & Work Environment:

We value our mining professionals and offer a competitive package designed to support long-term career growth:

  • Annual Salary: Competitive base salary with performance bonus potential, commensurate with experience.

  • Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with 401(k) with company match.

  • Location: Based in Denver, CO, with site visits required to operational mines as needed.

  • Work Schedule: Standard full-time schedule, with flexibility based on project and operational demands. 4 days a week in office with a 9/80 schedule
