Position Overview:

As a Speech Pathologist Assistant (SLPA) in a school-based setting, you will provide speech and language therapy services to students with communication disorders and challenges. You will work collaboratively with supervising SLP, teachers, support staff, and families to support students in improving their communication skills and achieving academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing direct therapy services to students in individual or group settings.
  • Collaborating with teachers and support staff to integrate speech and language goals into students' educational programming.
  • Monitoring and documenting students' progress towards speech and language goals.
  • Providing education and training to teachers, support staff, and families on strategies to support students' communication development.
  • Keeping current on best practices and research in the field of speech language pathology.
  • Collaborating with and following plan of care set forth by supervising SLP

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Speech-Language Pathology/Communication Disorders.
  • State licensure or certification in speech-language pathology-or ability to obtain
  • Experience working with children in a school setting preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices for the treatment of speech and language disorders.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and learning.
