About the Department 

Our Event Development and Production (ED&P) department develops and produces NYRR events from concepts all the way through execution in a way that fulfills NYRR’s mission. NYRR produces 40+ races per year; in addition to the TCS New York City Marathon, and additional events within each race. The events team is responsible for physical site management, volunteer management, hospitality, special events, safety & security, and managing our warehouse and event logistics, including all race collateral.

About the Position

The Warehouse Event Logistics Lead reports to the Director, Warehouse Event Logistics and serves as a member of the larger Warehouse Operations & Event Logistics team. This role supports day-to-day floor operations, loading of trucks for races, safeguarding of various NYRR-owned commercial fleet vehicles, warehouse-based material handling equipment, and overall warehouse operations. The position will be an advocate for safety and ensure regular compliance with NYRR and government regulations. 

 

Job Responsibilities (primary and secondary duties):

• Supporting the Director to help guide a team of part-time Warehouse Associates as collaborative team member.  
• Loading and delivering NYRR inventory to race site as well as distributing and installing all race day equipment.  Upon conclusion of event, retrieving all issued inventory, ensuring all items are accounted for and returning them to NYRR Warehouse for unloading. 
• Responsible for equipment inspections, ensuring race related equipment is in good working order, including but not limited to generators, scaffolding, tables, barrels, sound system(s) etc.  
• Inform management of any/all needed equipment upgrades, repairs, and/or purchases.  
• Work closely with Event Project Managers in developing material delivery and load schedules.   
• Coordinate the execution of signage installation plan for all events as required.  
• Submit weekly status reports to Director, Warehouse Event Logistics.
• Assist with event planning of NYRR commercial fleet vehicles, including assisting with vehicle assignments for upcoming events and deliveries.
• Notify management regarding drivers and vehicles needed, develop delivery schedules and routing plans to meet the needs of internal and external clients.
• Report maintenance needs of event vehicles to management, including the regular cleaning, washing and other preventive tasks.
• Coordinate with third-party trucking companies utilized in the execution of NYRR events.
• Other responsibilities as needed.

 

Job Requirements:

Experience:

• 3+ years of relevant work experience.

• Experience working in a collaborative, team-based environment.
• Strong logistical/operational and customer service background.
• Strong mechanical skills.
• Familiarity with various heavy equipment commonly utilized in outdoor event environments.
• Forklift and other heavy equipment license preferred or the ability to acquire one within 30 days of employment.
• Forklift and pallet jack experience required.

Education & Certifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• Valid, clean driver’s license required. 
• Commercial driver’s license preferred (A or B) a plus but not required.   

Skills and Attributes:

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook, Teams).
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, including verbal and written skills. Bilingual Spanish fluency a plus.
• Adaptable to a flexible schedule; must be able to work nights and weekends as needed in support of NYRR events. 
• Attention to detail and a high degree of organization. 
• Strong team player with the ability to maintain confidentiality and lead by example across multiple functions. 
• Must be able to manage multiple requests and projects simultaneously. 
• Stay calm in a fast-paced environment. 
• Strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. 
• Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving abilities specifically as they pertain to the event Industry or comparable industry.

Other Requirements:

 

• Role is based primarily out of NYRR warehouse facility in the Bronx. May occasionally require travel to NYRR 56th Street offices, NYRR RunCenter and/or to event sites within the five boroughs of NYC, and on occasion in nearby NJ.
• Adaptable to a flexible schedule. Must be able to work nights and weekends as needed in support of NYRR events.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
• Able to sit and work at a computer for long periods of time. 
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time. 

 

Salary:$72,000/year
