Job Description



The Associate Creative Director, Copy for our full service advertising agency, Pacific Communications provides strategic direction and advice, writing, editing, and content research for print and electronic media for AbbVie advertising, promotion, and other communications. This includes product and indication launches, sales collateral materials, sales meetings, convention exhibits, direct to physician and other healthcare professionals, direct to patient, Managed Health Care programs, videos, web/multimedia, internal communication programs, including sales training, incentive projects, change management communications, and internal and external corporate and c-suite communications on an ad hoc basis.

This person will implement and expand marketing strategy and tactics by creating campaigns to engage customers and stakeholders (patients, caregivers, friends, family and healthcare decision influencers) in ways that improve quality of communication, breakthrough, innovation, differentiation and sustainability.

This is a hybrid position with the ability to commute to our Irvine, CA office at least 3 days per week. 

Responsibilities

  • Writing, editing, content generation for print and electronic media for AbbVie advertising, promotion, & other communications. This includes product and indication launches, sales collateral materials, sales meetings, convention exhibits, direct to physician and other healthcare professionals, direct to patient, Managed Health Care programs, videos, web/multimedia, internal communication programs, including sales training, incentive projects on an adhoc basis.
  • Writing of pharma and medical materials, including research, referencing, editing and the creation and oversight of reference decks and grids
  • Strategic direction and advice for elements described above
  • Support commercial team, with ad hoc support of other functions and corporate teams
  • Develop content in collaboration with franchise and cross-functional review processes (Medical, Regulatory, Legal, etc.)
  • Work with multiple internal and external resources development, writing, referencing, editing and the creation of reference decks and grids.
  • Generate consumer, external facing creative content and concepts
  • Collaborate with art directors and designers in the creation of materials

Qualifications

  • B.A./B.S/Business, Communications or Advertising; or equivalent business experience within the pharmaceutical or related industry.
  • 10-20 years of experience
  • Proven skills and experience in developing advertising and promotional ideas, concepts, and campaigns
  • Knowledge of applicable regulations and standards affecting Pharmaceutical Products, and the promotion of sales and marketing materials/samples and interactions with healthcare professionals.
  • Knowledge and experience in researching, understanding, and interpreting medical and scientific literature and concepts – and translating this information into successful communications aimed at various professional and patient target audiences.
  • Advanced written, verbal, and presentation skills; project management skills; and organizational skills.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical marketing/communication/advertising
  • Preferred:
    • Associate Creative Director experience.
    • Understanding of pharmaceutical sales, market research, print production, and e-media
