Director of Golf
Golf Complex in West Lafayette, Indiana is looking for a Director of Golf.
Position Overview:
Oversee all aspects of the operations of the golf complex, monitor and adjust financial performance, ensure exceptional guest experiences, maximize revenue, and lead a dynamic team. The position will facilitate all aspects of the business, including coordinating between White Lodging, sales, marketing, finance, and operations, while maintaining the high standards associated with the company brand. The characteristics and key attributes of a successful candidate include goal orientation, initiative, vitality, time management plus honesty, straightforwardness, integrity, accountability, leadership, and dedication. He/she must demonstrate superior interpersonal relations skills, be a good communicator, be administratively competent and be able to communicate the facility’s vision, especially as it relates to sustaining relevant, contemporary facilities with best-in-market quality. The ability to collaborate with multiple stakeholders is essential.
Duties:
• Revenue Generation:
o Implement programs and marketing strategies that will increase all revenue centers, including but not limited to green fee revenue, lessons, retail sales, and membership dues.
o Ensure facility is a community benefit by making the venue available for community events and activities that attract a diverse population.
o Elevate the golf experience at the as well as the prestige of the the company with an eye towards attracting tournaments to the Lafayette area.
o Encourage membership growth and ensure service levels meet the standards of the facility.
o Monitors operation of golf program, including teaching, scheduling, tournaments, locker rooms, bag storage, driving range, cart rentals, and pro shop facility.
o Analyze various segments of golf population and develop goals and objectives to attract and promote each specific player type/group to the company.
o Coordinates the purchase of pro shop supplies and merchandise to be sold and determines mark up and profit margin.
• Staff Supervision:
o Set the standard for effective management, maintaining a high level of ethics, prudence, creativity, productivity, and demonstrates a concern for the supervision and development of the staff.
o Ensure that Direct Reports goals and objectives are defined, understood, evaluated, and enhanced on a continual basis, to meet the position expectations.
o Chair weekly meetings with all Direct Reports to constantly test and measure the performance of the Golf Operation, Strategies, and Golf Operations team through key performance indicators and agreed targets.
• Financial Management and Reporting:
o Establishes, manages, and monitors the golf course operating budget. Estimates and anticipates labor demands, supplies, materials, equipment, and capital project needs. Recommends fee structure to generate sufficient revenues to cover expenses.
o Drives the design and implementation of long and short-term objectives, financial reports, and prepares the financial plan for the Facility.
o Prepares and monitors annual budget, revenue goals and expenses as well as generating various (weekly, monthly, etc.) business volume forecasts.
• Marketing and Communications:
o To be the first point of contact for members and visitors and to promote the Facility externally and internally in a professional and friendly manner, enhancing the reputation of the Facility.
o Create a comprehensive communications program that keeps all appropriate constituencies informed of relevant matters using all available platforms.
o Coordinate the facility’s marketing and promotional programs to maximize facility usage, revenue generation, and recruitment of members/patrons.
o Work in partnership with the Golf Professionals, Food and Beverage provider, and local tourism partners to create and effectively market attractive visitor and “stay and play” packages.
o Work with local tourism partners to promote the golf complex to position the facility as a key part of the town’s growing tourism offering.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, hospitality management, or related field of study from an accredited university.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in either golf course management, clubhouse management, or country club food and beverage management.
Candidates should have vast experience in overall golf course management, including member relations, clubhouse operations, and golf operations.
Must have supervisory and staff development experience.
Must have experience in total golf facility management and demonstrated ability to run a professional, efficient, high-quality, service-oriented operation.
Certifications: PGA/LPGA membership, preferably Class A, is encouraged.
Compensation:
$100,000.00 – $115,000.00 per year.
