Job Description

Position Overview

The Director of Operations and Events oversees all event-related execution and supports the operational, financial, and risk mitigation for One Knoxville SC. This role requires strong organizational skills, financial management understanding, and the ability to coordinate and execute match days and outside events. You will work closely with internal teams, vendors, and external partners to ensure seamless event execution, optimize fan experiences, and manage operational needs for the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all match day operations, from creating event timelines and run of shows to coordinating with security, parking, and outside vendors for smooth event execution.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll, onboarding staff to insurance and payroll systems, and ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing.
  • Manage banking operations, including categorizing transactions in QuickBooks and ensuring accurate financial records.
  • Handle vendor payments, manage insurance payments, and oversee other financial tasks such as invoicing and managing budgets.
  • Coordinate booking and management of event entertainers such as halftime entertainers, ensuring talent is confirmed and well-prepared.
  • Focus on enhancing the fan experience by optimizing match day environments, fan engagement, and ensuring an exciting atmosphere at Covenant Health Park.
  • Oversee all operational aspects for the W-League team, including match day logistics, scheduling, travel arrangements, and practice field bookings.
  • Manage and schedule part-time staff and interns for match days, ensuring adequate staffing and clear communication for all involved.
  • Ensure the smooth operation of external events, handling logistics, coordinating vendors, and managing event-specific details.
  • Provide leadership and organization for all aspects of event planning, ensuring all necessary resources are in place and staff is prepared.
  • Create and manage detailed event timelines and schedules for all match days and external events, ensuring stakeholders are aligned on activities and responsibilities.

Required Skills And Qualifications

  • Strong background in operations or event management, ideally in sports or entertainment.
  • Experience with financial management and QuickBooks.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
  • Leadership and communication skills, with experience managing teams, interns, and vendors.
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and handle complex, multi-faceted events.
  • Problem-solving abilities, particularly on match and event days
  • Experience with managing fan engagement and optimizing match day environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the USL or other professional sports leagues.
  • Knowledge of managing event timelines, schedules, and coordination of external partners.
  • Available to work flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
